Missing L-Rod

My little one has been in Austin since last Friday and boy do I miss him.  When they are driving you crazy, you can not wait for a break.  Then when you get a break, you feel lost after a couple of days.  GEEZ.

So, I have been trying to keep myself as busy as possible.  I finally whipped up a few things yesterday.  My  sister-in-law loved the bag I made for my niece and said she would have swipped it from her, but it did not have the correct initial.  So, I made her her very own.

Pic does not do it justice, better in person. Though, I think I should have made the ruffle bigger.

Guess I am on a ruffle kick (plus, I am not much of a seamstress and they are easy).  I added some ruffles to a white holey tank I had lying around.

For the ruffle fabric, I cut up a blouse I had and never wore.

I am off to finish another bag I started......Happy day to all!

The Mad Hatter

Yesterday was a friend's birthday and several of us got together for a combo birthday/Christmas party.  To help her celebrate in style, I made her a birthday hat....

Everyone thought it was a great hit....maybe it will become a tradition.

Merry Christmas to everyone!!!!

Slowing down........

Only a few more days until Christmas!!!!  This month has really flown by.  My crafting has slowed down a bit since my days of crafting frenzy.  Still have a few more things I would like to get done, but I have decided not to fret too much if I don't.

I completed an altered eyeglass case I had on hand.  A little gift for my mom who can never find her glasses in her purse.  Maybe this will help out a bit.

Well, I am off to bake.  Have a great day!

Santa's busy elf

Wow!!!!  Yesterday, I really pumped out some gifts!!!  I wrapped up the tea towel set and made a rick rack rose for a bow that is also a pin to wear....

I also finished up my niece's gift...did a little bag with several little things for her, including a rosette headband.

                                                                    (like my model?)

Let's see...what else?????  Oh,  a tissue holder for my mom.  Soon to have a matching eyeglass case, that is not quiet complete.

I think that about completes yesterday, now to do some more today.

I was worried for a bit yesterday.  I thought L-Rod may have the flu.  Was complaining with all the right symptoms.  But, seems to be pretty good this morning.  He says he is a little dizzy and his arms are achey...will have to keep an eye on him, could still be it.

  Good day to all!

Write on....

The other night I made chalkboard pendants for the girls in my church youth group.  They loved them, well at least they said they did.

They could also be used for ornaments.  For me, this was a total no out-of-pocket expense.  I used things I had on hand (some for several years).  For the base of the chalkboard area, I used a hardback book that I got for a dollar and have been using the pages out of for different projects.

Last night I finished up the other part of the tea towel gift.  L-Rod put his handprint on some fabric and used a paintpen to write his name and it was turned into a potholder.  The edges were a little rough, but I know his grandmother will really cherish them both.

I can not believe Christmas is less than a week away!  It always sneaks up on me.  Hope everyone has a great day!

Oh, balls!

L-Rod has yet another birthday party to go to today.  It is really hard (and pricey) deciding what to get each kid (boys and girls) for a gift.  So last spring, I came up with an idea to give everyone a jar with their name on it full of gumballs (thanks Cracker Barrell for the idea).  I went to the local wholesale club and bought a 17 lb. box of gumballs and a bunch of jars.
It is hard to see the bow in this pic, it is a sheer zebra print.  I guess by spring time, when all the birthdays I have given this for rolls around again, I am going to have to come up with another go-to gift.  It really takes the stress, time, and expense away.

Last night I was working on gifts again.  I made L-Rod a recycled T scarf....yep, forgot to take a pic again.  It turned out pretty cute and I hope he likes it.  I also made my ex mother-in-law a tea towel with L-Rod's silhouette on it.
I added a couple of ruffles to the bottom..and ta-da! I got the idea one day while I was browsing the net and I really can not remember where I saw it (sorry if it was one of you).  I am making a matching potholder with his handprint on it.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Makin whoopie

....pies that is.  I made peppermint whoopie pies for L-Rod's class Christmas party last night.  Here is the outcome...
They looked pretty good, but I did not try them.  I will have to take L-Rod's word for it...he said the kids liked them.

I also made a couple of gifts last night.  One being a decorated hand sanitizer for his teacher.

The picture is not the best, I really need to start taking pictures with my camera instead of my phone.

I also made a decorated stand up double frame (looks better than it sounds) for my dad's desk at work.  I included the two rugrats' pics on it.  Would share a picture of that also.......but in my lack of sleep state, I thought about actually taking the picture after I wrapped it.  I will have to get one when he opens it.
Well, I am off to work on some more gifts. Hope it is a good one!

Busy, Busy, Busy

The last week has been sooo busy.  I have been wanting to make some Christmas gifts and post my creations, but I have not had time.  Sooo....today, I finally had a chance to make another guitar T for my oldest, Cam.  For some reason one of the edges had a little leak under the edge...I even checked all the edges and thought there was good adhesion. He is getting it for a gift anyway.

The pic was taken with my phone and the colors are not clear. The T is a darker dusty blue with black image. Looks pretty good in person.  Thanks again Erica for the guitar design.  Hope everyone has a great day.  I am off to make more presents and make peppermint whoopie pies for the class Christmas party tomorrow.  Will let you know how they turn out!

Extreme Makeover

Extreme Makeover Home Edition is in a town nearby.  I am lucky enough to get to volunteer today and tomorrow.  I took my mom yesterday around lunch to observe and then took L-Rod over there when he got home from school.  It is amazing how much can get done in only one day.  The foundation was just poured yesterday morning and by the evening walls were up and roof rafters were installed.  Hope to post more later....I am off to swing a hammer with Ty and the gang..

T-shirts!!!!!

Yesterday I saw the cutest t-shirt over at Acire Adventures .  It has a Fender Precision Bass and offered to share the image.  She emailed it to me (THANKS ERICA!!!!)....and though she did hers on a Silhouette...and me not having one, I created mine with freezer paper; it turned out pretty good.  L-Rod (my youngest) wore it to school today, looking quiet stylish in his new T and Converse.

The image is light gray and looks a bit worn....just like an old school T.

This is an Einstein T I did a couple of months ago (also for L-Rod).

I am now on a T kick and am sure I will have many more to share in the very near future!

Giants???

I received a text from a friend yesterday...she wanted to know if I could paint some ornaments decorated with something to do with the New York Giants. My first thought was....Giants????? We are in Texas, everyone down here are Cowboys fans (with the exception of some...including myself..shhh). I said sure, let me see what I can do. Well, here is the finished product. They look a little rough, but not too bad.

A Whole New World

I am new to the blogging world am sure I will be stumbling around for a while.  Anyway..... I attempted making pilgram hat treats for my son's class last night, what a disaster!!! Maybe it is the humidity, because the are very moist still. I even put them in the freezer, it possibly made them worse.  So....now I am debating on taking them anyway and letting the teacher deal with a bunch of chocolate-covered 3rd graders. I am sure he will be bumped up to teacher fav on that one.  I am so not posting a pic on the little wrecks (the hat, not the kids).  I am actually quiet embarrased to even send them, but the kiddo is expecting them....ugh!!!
