Just a little something

Just a little something I whipped up for my friend's upcoming birthday.  She has a weenie dog and collects ornaments.....so, I thought I would make her a pillow to go along those lines. Just something a little different.

As you may notice, I still have not found that darn camera charger and am still using my phone for photos.

A good day to all!

future horder?

I keep things....no, not everything; but, if I think something can come in handy in the future, I will keep it.  My mom has even started saving things here and there.....like the little cardboard inserts in sheet packaging... but, they can make really cute magnets. That is what I did with the ones my mom gave me the other day.

I really, REALLY need to find the charger to my camera (and I will never, NEVER buy another one without the option to add batteries in case of emergency.

300?

I  LOVE  the creativity and cleverness of my boys.  A few months ago my youngest had a school musical (each year, each grade has their own) and it was dog based.  My son was lucky enough to be a schnauzer AND since he had a speaking part, I wanted it to look decent (some parents really, REALLY don't try...and then there is me....putting in TOO much time..haha).  But, how does one make a schnauzer???  After throwing out a few ideas, my oldest

suggested  a fooman (spelling?) 'stache...then came the idea for bushy eyebrows.

Not too bad for using stuff around the house.

Anyway, the creativity continues to the young un also.  The other evening, after running errands, I came home to L-Rod making a helmet....not just any helmet, but a Spartan helmet.  He said, "You know, like on 300!!"  Um, ok...didn't see it.  I was proud of his creativity and attempt, the only slight problem was it being square due to it being from a cereal box.  He had already made a shield and one wrist cuff.

Well, it has snowballed from there, I have now made a cape, a new helmet...and the helmet, armband, and shield are all painted gold .....the things we do for our kids.

My son is sooo proud (and he should be) that he asked if he could wear it to school.  Was sorry to tell him no... After that answer, he informed me that when he was in high school, he WOULD be wearing it to history class.  My thoughts were, "Good luck with that one".....

this is before helmet was painted and embellished

                                                                   and after, with cape

and shield detail, he drew the design, but I traced it with hot glue before painting to get embossed look.

Well, I wonder what kind of entertainment today will bring.  May yours be entertaining as well.

where did all these nieces come from?

I have several, several nieces (and one adorable nephew) and it is hard to come up with new gift ideas for each birthday.  For Saturday's birthday, I asked her (turning 5) what she would like.  The answer was a new black crayon (guess hers was worn down) and a pillow.  Unable to find just one black crayon in a house (did not want to go to store) FULL of crayons, I made her a pillow....

Some may pick up on a slight theme here and there......a LOT of  "L" crafts.....names beginning with that letter are a tradition in the offspring's paternal side of the family.  Needless to say, the pillow was a hit and I am still trying to remember crayons at the store to get a new black one to her.

Good day to all!!

been awhile

It has been awhile since posting, have not been feeling totally up to par...which means not much crafting.
I did make this bag for myself  New Year's Eve.  Several pieces are from torn pants, the rest scraps.  I used a leg from cargo pants for the inside, so there is a pocket.

As mentioned before, I am not the world's best at sewing and one of the ruffles was a bit shorter in one spot.  Best way to cover up a flaw is to embellish it!!!  So, voila....a flower!

I love my scrappy purse and have had requests from friends to turn some of their torn pants into one!

Hope everyone has a great day!
